First PICC Placed In In LTC In Connecticut

PRESS RELEASE: BY EVE CURTIN, RN, CRNI OF INFUSION PLUS, INC.

The very first peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) was placed on November 30th, 2011 at Cheshire House Health Care and Rehabilitation in Waterbury, CT.

This successful placement of a PICC in a long term care facility in the state of Connecticut is the very 1st since Governor Malloy signed the new PICC Bill into law on June 3rd of this year. Sam Rice, RN, BSN, Branch Manager for High Tech Nursing Services, and Susan Fullana, RN, Vascular Access Specialist with Infusion Plus, Inc., were responsible for coordinating this historic event.

This is a very exciting time in health care for both the patient and the long term care facility as the patient no longer has to be sent out to the hospital for this procedure.
